2023: WHY GOVERNOR BELLO SHOULD CALM DOWN AND WEIGH HIS OPTIONS Alhaji Jemil Usman (The Young Alhaji)

 

There is no doubt that the profile of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has risen beyond his state and he is now one of the frequently mention names at the national political fecundity. This is what consistency at the national scene has earned the governor. His pragmatism and openness on national issues has leapfrogged him above his peers and it is a good thing for the good people of Kogi State and there is no doubt that he will deliver God willing.

Moreover, governor Bello’s popularity isn’t accidental as he has been working hard to establish a formidable team of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State and by extension, the dominance of the APC in Kogi is now being felt across board in Nigeria.

However, I want His Excellency to thread with absolute caution and continue to maintain cordial relationships with party stakeholders. His Excellency, governor Bello should go with the party’s directive and work with all stakeholders to agree on the next step of his political career as the governor is still young and can achieve so many things in politics when the time is ripe.

The popularity gained by His Excellency amongst his peers so far is highly commendable and it is a right step in the right direction. I want His Excellency to be tactical in his approach as the political terrain of Nigeria is such a complex and delicate one.

Historically, there were political situations in the past where politicians had to be patient in order to reap good fruits in the future. A typical example was when Gen. Obasanjo stepped down for Alh. Shehu Shagari in 1979 and later Gen. Abdulsalam also stepped down for Gen. Obasanjo in May, 2009 to usher him as a democratically elected President. So, it is better to continue to build relationships and watch as situations unfold for further permutations.

In addition, His Excellency, the executive governor of Kogi State, should align more with the party stalwarts and watch the zoning arrangement of the party before divulging his intentions as regards 2023.  Governor Yahaya Bello is strong, young, vibrant and qualified to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but there is always time for everything in life. If the time is now, so be it, if it will come much more later, the governor should be patient and work for his party till his destinied time to pilot the affairs of this great nation.

  In March 2021, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma invited the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria to commission some laudable projects executed by the Sen. Hope Uzodinma’s led administration in Imo State. The projects amongst many were the Federal Secretariat road named after President Buhari, and that of Port Harcourt road. APC CONVENTION: THE PRESIDENT HAS SPOKEN  By Alhaji Jemil Usman (The Young Alhaji) I was over the moon when I read the all-important speech of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Progressive Governors forum where the President affirmed the consensus stand of the party. The unambiguous statement clearly stated that the infrastructural gains the APC government has been able to achieve cannot be compromised by being complacent.
