APC CRISIS: WHY MR. PRESIDENT AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

By Alhaji Jemil Usman (The Young Alhaji)

The perpetual lingering crisis withing the leading party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a bad omen for both the party and the good people of Nigeria and the stakeholders must act to avert the impending calamity.

It is unthinkable that the shenanigans of some unscrupulous and self-serving leaders can cripple all the gigantic efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari to redirect Nigeria to a working country where people can achieve their aims in life.

Moreover, the perennial postponement of the APC National Convention by its leaders has further demonstrated how selfish some leaders can be. How on earth can you becuase of your own personal political interest hold other people to ransome?

Findings have now shown that some governors who are supposed to be pace setters in the progress of the party  have now become the clog in the wheel of the party due to personal ambition. These governors whose performance in their respective states should be enough to propel them to the next leadership positions have now preoccupied themselves with political brouhaha within the party thereby neglecting their primary functions as chief executives of their states.

Consequently, the innocent citizens of their states have now meant to suffer for their inefficiencies. They have now been subjected to unimaginable perdition as their leaders have abandoned them to pursue other political agenda.

In all of these, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, should not turn his blind eye to all these myriad of knots in the party. As the father of our great nation and great party, it is expected that the President will wade in and show leadership to our people. This is to avoid the repetition of what happened in the past amongst some of the Buhari loyalists who have now cross-carpetted to other political parties.

The case of Governor El-Rufai vs Shehu Sani in Kaudna and Governor Yahaya Bello vs Dino Melaye of Kogi State are few examples that would come to mind as I'm writing this piece. Had the President intervened timely, they would have still been in the party today. We should all know that it's the President's figure that's holding the party together, therefore he needs to put up a structure that would outlive his administration and continue to win elections after he has exited the apex office of the country.

If the APC hierarchy failed to put their house together and allow the Peoples Democratic Party to take the leadership role of our country, we would all pay for the consequences. As a matter of fact, some of these governors who are bent hell on their personal and selfish ambitions might end up behind bars as the PDP will strive to avenge and make the  APC to suffer.

I'm therefore calling on stakeholders to put aside their personal ambitions and come together to make sure that the party's leadership transcend beyond 2023 general elections. This is becuase if there is no functional party as a vehicle, how would you par take in the elections in the first place

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
God bless our great party, the All Progressives Congress.
